Genre: Contemporary Romance
My Review:
Just a Kiss is a sweet, light read about Sarah, who is looking to start over after professional and personal heartbreaks; and Jamie, who is looking to revive his acting career. This was a quick, easy read, but I felt that the author didn't dig very deep into the development of the characters, the setting, or the storyline. Being primarily from Sarah's perspective, I didn't feel like I really got to know Jamie well at all and then, all of a sudden, he was acting like he was in love with her and she was jumping into bed with him. Because I didn't feel like I knew Jamie and Sarah very well, the level of physical and emotional involvement felt rushed and premature. In true romance novel fashion, the couple is thrown a wrench and a simple misunderstanding turns into months apart. Thankfully, Jamie is confident enough in his feelings for Sarah to eventually push past the misunderstanding and fight for what's important to him - her. A light, fun read with a quirky set of roommates and a grandmotherly type who finds a love life of her own. A good introduction to the Single Girls Wine Club.
Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
