Release Day Review: "Tempt Me Too" by Stacy Eaton

Synopsis:

Sara Hawthorne is a dedicated attorney, a loyal wife, and the mother of two nineteen-year-old girls. When her husband succumbs to cancer, Sara has to battle the grief and also the addiction to which one of her daughters falls prey.

Maximus Tempest is business driven—and family starved. Eager to get his estranged wife to sign the divorce papers so he can move on with his life, he is frustrated when she is taken to the hospital after overdosing and wants no part of her treatment.

When Sara and Max see each other for the first time in twenty years, old feelings spring to life, but with the whirlwind of problems that surround them, how could it possibly work? Secrets are revealed from the grave that could threaten any future they might have, and it will be up to Sara and Max to see if they can overcome the lies—or if they must bury their dreams of a relationship forever.

Genre: Contemporary Romance

My Review:
Tempt Me Too is a wonderful second chance at first love story. The author had this reader reaching for the tissues early as I was fully invested with Sara's relationship with her husband early. After his death, the chapters alternate between Sara and Max, each time drawing them a bit closer together, making this reader turn the pages faster, wanting to find the time when they find each other again. Sara and Max's reunion is explosive but it takes no time before real life interrupts them and their potential future is threatened. How many challenges can one couple face and still find their happily-ever-after? Well, Sara and Max answer that question.

I love the secondary characters the author introduces - Tina and George, their best friends, and Alexis and Kelsey, Sara's daughters. Each provides a unique role in Sara and Max's reunion and everything they navigate on the way to their happily-ever-after.

There are no open-door sex scenes but intimacy is definitely included. A must read and a great new addition from Stacy Eaton.

"The Trouble with Mistletoe" (Heartbreak Bay) by Jill Shalvis

Synopsis:
If she has her way . . .

Willa Davis is wrangling puppies when Keane Winters stalks into her pet shop with frustration in his chocolate-brown eyes and a pink bedazzled cat carrier in his hand. He needs a kitty sitter, stat. But the last thing Willa needs is to rescue a guy who doesn’t even remember her . . .

He’ll get nothing but coal in his stocking.

Saddled with his great-aunt’s Feline from Hell, Keane is desperate to leave her in someone else’s capable hands. But in spite of the fact that he’s sure he’s never seen the drop-dead-gorgeous pet shop owner before, she seems to be mad at him . . .

Unless he tempers “naughty” with a special kind of nice . . .

Willa can’t deny that Keane’s changed since high school: he’s less arrogant, for one thing—but can she trust him not to break her heart again? It’s time to throw a coin in the fountain, make a Christmas wish—and let the mistletoe do its work . . .

Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance

My Review:
Another great visit back to Heartbreak Bay and the cast of characters that live in and around there. In The Trouble with Mistletoe, the author introduces two flawed, "damaged" people who are practically perfect for each other. I love the introduction where our heroine, Willa, realizes early on that the man who has no idea who she is is the one who broke her heart, without even knowing it, in high school. Thus begins a journey for each of them that winds its way through their neuroses, friendships, fears, and hopes, and lands with the two of them in love with each other. Each has fear of commitments, but for different reasons, and each has to let go some of their control, and be willing to take a risk, in order for them to find happiness.

The Trouble with Mistletoe includes lots of laughs, many animal hijinks, friends looking out for friends, and friends challenging each other to look beyond the surface for the reality, and the chance for love, that lurks just below the surface.

Blog Tour: "Crushing on Love" (Bradens of Peaceful Harbor) by Melissa Foster

New Release........
Book #4 The Bradens of Peaceful Harbor

Steve Johnson is living his life’s passion watching over the Colorado Mountains as a ranger and wildlife consultant. But his peaceful life is upended when overzealous and insanely beautiful Shannon Braden flits back into his life after returning from a brief trip home to Maryland. He thought his attraction to her was under control—after all, she’s only in Colorado temporarily, and he doesn’t do casual affairs.

Shannon’s return to Colorado has as much to do with the game of cat and mouse she and Steve have been playing as it does the data she’s been hired to collect. But despite her efforts to explore the undeniable heat simmering between them, Steve’s intent on keeping his distance.

When a ranch abutting the national park goes up for sale, Steve will do whatever it takes to keep it from falling into the wrong hands. And when all his attempts fail, he’s left with no alternative but to follow Shannon’s guidance into the online world he abhors in order to raise the funds. The more time they spend together, the deeper their attraction becomes, and a game of cat and mouse turns into an unstoppable connection. But when Shannon’s assignment comes to an end, will it mean an end to them, too?

My Review:

Another intensely passionate story in the Peaceful Harbor series. Just when I think Melissa Foster cannot create more intense, more compassionate heroes, she releases another book. Steve is a wonderful character - deeply passionate about the environment -- and Shannon. I was a little perplexed at the beginning regarding why Steve was so attached to his mountain and inflexible about leaving but over time, his love of the land and his role in became as much a part of the book as the other characters.

Shannon is an exuberant character. I love how there were times when she could move from topic to topic, bouncing from one idea to another, and her bubbly personality came through the words on the page. I love how confident she is in her feelings for Steve, and the risk she takes to see if he feels the same. At the same time, I wanted to smack her upside the head a couple of times, wanting her to open her eyes and see what was right in front of her. Because while she took a chance to see what could develop between Steve, she was unwilling to take a chance on the permanence of that love. Her fear of losing connection to her family was valid but her lack of insight into ways to have both was frustrating.

But, have no fear. As in true romance, Shannon and Steve find their happily-ever-after. And the reader finds another great read from Melissa Foster in the Braden's series.

Release Day Review: "Love on the Run" (Pine Harbour) by Zoe York

Synopsis:

Dean Foster has nearly two decades experience being calm, cool, and collected. His first gig in his new private security contractor role should be more of the same, but Nashville superstar Liana Hansen blows all that out of the water in one breathy hello.

Liana isn’t sure how she feels about the straight-laced cop shadowing her everywhere she goes, but there’s no denying the chemistry between them. Too bad he insists on keeping his clothes on. And then there’s the pesky matter of feelings. Neither of them likes those.

With only a dozen stops left on the tour, one of them is going to have to bend. Or the other is going to wind up breaking something.

Genre: Contemporary Romance

My Review:
I fell in love with hero Dean Foster in the very first pages of Love on the Run. Zoe York is known for writing hero-centric, sexy stories and this one does not disappoint. Dean is the perfect temperament for hot-mess musician Liana. He joins her as his bodyguard but its quickly apparent he's so much more: part therapist, part bodyguard, 100% lover. Their relationship burns up the pages from the minute their eyes meet and by the time they get together, their relationship is explosive. Stolen moments in concert venues and shadowy corners heighten the intensity until they are able to find a moment alone.

Dean's a protector in all aspects of his life, and that's why he's perfect for Liana. He quickly figures out how to read her moods and meet her needs, whether its for a protector, friend, or lover. I just love him.

The author realistically depicts the life of a musician, at least as best as I would imagine, not being one myself, but the frenetic pace of life on the road comes through the words on the page. The interpersonal dynamic of Liana and her band and their differing personalities creates humorous and tense situations. But in the end, the intensity of Dean and Liana's relationship burns up the pages of Love on the Run.
