Review: "His Pregnant Texas Sweetheart" by Amy Woods

Synopsis:

KATIE BLOOM'S FIVE-POINT PLAN TO HAPPILY-EVER-AFTER:

-Foster a happy, healthy environment for my child-to-be. Even though my ex left us, I'm so excited to be a mom.

-Find a new career path, now that the Peach Leaf Historical Society is closing.

-Make this year's Pumpkin Festival the best Peach Leaf, Texas, has ever seen.

-Create the perfect family with the only man I've ever loved: my childhood BFF, Ryan Ford. He's back in town for the first time since he married his pregnant high school girlfriend, and our chemistry is as off-the-charts as ever.

-Recover from Ryan's gorgeous hazel stare and let him know how I feel, how I've always felt. He left home years ago, but I'm not letting him go, ever again!

Genre: Contemporary Romance
My Review:
His Pregnant Texas Sweetheart is a sweet story of first love rekindled.  What was interesting about this story is Katie and Ryan weren't actually sweethearts back in high school.  Throughout the story we find out that each believed they were in love with the other in high school, but didn't believe the other was in love with them, so did nothing about it. I thought that was a fun twist on the second chance loves!
It was clear as soon as Katie and Ryan saw each other again that there were still underlying feelings between them. The story was well written to draw in the reader and have them hoping for a happy ending right along with Katie and Ryan. I liked that there wasn't much strife between Ryan and Katie throughout the story - even when Katie realizes Ryan's role in the change in her employment status. I did think that perhaps Katie and Ryan fell "back" in love more quickly that would probably be likely in real life - many years away and they were immediately back in love seems a bit of a stretch. Fundamentally, though, this is a sweet second chance love story between two people who clearly belonged together in the first place and as a reader, I was happy to see they finally got their happily ever after!
Disclosure: I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

About the Author:

I'm a lifelong reader, book hoarder, lover of words, and a textbook introvert; despite the obvious career choice, I took the scenic route to writing.

I worked as a bookkeeper, a high school English teacher, a claims specialist, and a family protective services worker before selling my first book in December, 2013.
Suffice to say, writing's my favorite.

I grew up in Austin, earned a B.A. in English from The University of Texas, and I still live here with my wonderfully goofy, supportive husband and our very silly rescue dog, Maggie. A few of my favorite things are reading, baking, and watching movies new and old.
